CHATEAU DE BONABAN, La Gouesniere, France

So the phone rings one day and the person on the other end inquires about meeting with us to discuss a potential renovation project.  We renovate buildings so we set up a meeting to discuss the project and determine what the project would entail. Turns out our client had purchased a 17th century Chateau in Brittany, France and would like us to assist them in turning it into a boutique hotel!

The Chateau had been used as a children’s day camp for years and had slowly fallen into disrepair. Our client envisioned restoring it, installing modern amenities and moving to France to become the innkeeper.

Working within the confines of this magnificent old building, we planned and designed a restaurant, bar, kitchen, meeting space, offices, saunas, public restrooms, elevator, and 20 private guest rooms with private bathrooms.  We designed an additional 28 private rooms with private bathrooms in two out buildings.

The owners commissioned new crystal chandlers from the Czech Republic, hired an artist to create large scale artwork on site, restored the grounds, collected beautiful furnishings and created an amazing boutique hotel.
